Week 3 – Things I’ve noticed

Dragon Super, the revival of the Dragon Ball series which aired in 2015, has been met with much criticism and much controversy. One of the concerns by lifelong fans who are familiar with the franchise has been the quality of of the animation. In Dragon Ball Super’s first few episodes, there were several frames in which the drawing of characters was terrible in comparison to what fans were used in Super’s predecessor, DBZ.  Anime News Network had the opportunity to speak with Tadayoshi Yamamuro, animation director for DBZ and Norihiro Hayashida, producer for several Dragon Ball projects. In their interview, the inconsistencies of some of the animation was brought up and Hayashida explained that much of the animation has been done by newcomers who are proving themselves on a professional level and are in the process of “evolving”. It was refreshing to know that studios are willing to accept and develop young upcoming animators for high profile shows. oNvYV0k
